Looking to go wine tasting this weekend? You don’t have to travel to the Napa Valley – L.A. has all you need! The following wine shops are some of the best in town for tastings, classes, and other special events. In addition, the knowledgeable sommeliers at each spot are able to recommend the perfect wine for you. You’ll leave feeling like a true wine expert!
The Wine House, 2311 Cotner Ave
This enormous warehouse has one of the largest selections of wine in Southern California, with a wide variety of styles and prices. Tastings and classes are held in the upstairs restaurant and bar. At these events, enjoy wines by the glass poured by the extremely knowledgeable staff. There is also a smaller tasting room that has a dispensing machine with 32 kinds of wine.
K & L Wine Merchants, 1400 Vine St
This shop stocks wines from all over the globe, particularly France, Italy, and our very own California. There is also a wide selection of sparkling wines. Tastings are hosted on Thursdays and Saturdays. On Thursdays, enjoy flights of five wines for $5. If that’s not enough for you, $20 on Saturdays will get you samplings of ten wines.
Domaine LA, 6801 Melrose Ave
This unique boutique specializes in natural wines with bold flavors and tastes. Pop in for a more casual wine tasting on Friday evenings, or come out for the larger, more social event on Sundays. Bring your friends and taste five different types of wine. Buy a bottle of your favorite at a discounted price and grab a bite from one of the food trucks waiting outside.
Wally’s Wines and Spirits, multiple locations
Upon entering this wine bar, you will be faced with over 1,000 bottles of wine, many of which are rare, vintage finds. Tastings are held on Saturdays, and while reservations are not required, it is recommended to buy a ticket online in advance. The tastings center around a particular theme, such as a region or flavor, and sometimes include beer. If you find one you like, you can buy a bottle for a discount.
