The amount of fantastic new TV shows keeps increasing with years! It’s not even summer yet, and we’ve already got quite a number of them out! And with more than 500 series set to air in 2018, we’d like to help you out with underlining the best ones. Dark comedy, crime stories, sci-fi – with this year’s TV series, you can easily find what you’re looking for and throw yourself a lovely weekend television marathon! Here are some of the most noteworthy TV shows of 2018 so far:

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (FX)

First season of Ryan Murphy’s FX series, The People vs. O.J. Simpson, has set an incredibly high bar for the later seasons. Nevertheless, this year’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace is an all-around fantastically done follow-up. While this season kicks off (and ends) with the murder of Versace, this story is ultimately a psychoanalysis of Versace’s killer, Andrew Cunanan, and what lead to his three-month murder spree. Darren Criss delivers a phenomenal, career-defining performance as Cunanan, and Tom Rob Smith masters the art of storytelling with brilliantly written script. Watch the trailer here.

Altered Carbon (Netflix)

This sci-fi action series is based on a novel written by Richard K. Morgan. The series is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored. It follows the story of a prisoner who returns to life in a new body and then must solve a murder to win his freedom. This mind-bending story created by Laeta Kalogridis, as well as a great performance by Joel Kinnaman, will leave you breathless. Watch the trailer here.

Atlanta: Robbin’ Season (FX)

First season of Atlanta earned Donald Glover two Golden Globes and two Emmys. This year, the shows came back stronger than ever with Robbin’ Season. Glover has now gained credibility to write away and push boundaries with new storylines, including a 45-minute horror short inspired by Michael Jackson. Atlanta continues to successfully touch upon topics of race, poverty, and pop culture. Watch the trailer here.

Westworld – Season 2 (HBO)

With Season Two premiering this Sunday, chaos does take control in Westworld. Robot rebellion lead by Dolores (played by Evan Rachel Wood), the oldest robot in the park, accompanied by the Ramin Djawadi’s brilliant soundtrack, will take on darker and more twisted turns. Now that the “hosts” are able to fight back, who knows where the future of the park will lead. Along with returning actors including Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Thandie Newton, James Marsden, and, of course, Evan Rachel Wood, this season welcomes new cast members, as the story will explore new park zones with entirely new themes and narratives.
