Battle of the Burger 2017

Who doesn’t love a good burger? Some of the first restaurants used to serve them by simply placing ground beef between two buns, however, chefs today are getting creative with burgers piled with cheese, caramelized onions, bacon, gourmet sauces, or even more burgers! When it comes to burgers, we all like to think outside the box and mix all kinds of flavors into our beloved juicy meal. So listen up, burger fanatics! Time Out L.A.’s first Battle of the Burger proudly presents top 50 burgers in the city. Angelenos have been voting from July 28 to August 8. Then in September, when our finalists will be announced, they’ll be fighting for the title of the best burger in the city. And guess what, you’ll have a chance to be there and sample them all! Meanwhile, we selected the following contenders for the Battle of the Burger you should definitely try:

The Belcampo Burger at Belcampo Meat Co.

At Belcampo Meat Co. you’re definitely in for a good time. Belcampo offers Fast Burger, for the thin-patty lovers. However, if you want something heavier, spring for the Belcampo Burger with its thick, juicy patty topped with caramelized onions and cheddar.

Patty Melt at Birch

Unconventional in its breading, it provides more traditional toppings like onion, dijonnaise and the government cheese.

Chophouse Burger at the Carving Board

The Carving Board is one of the rare sandwich places that does great is serving both the sandwiches and the burgers. Just-right melted cheddar, lettuce, tomato, thinly-sliced onion and a swipe of thousand island, all on brioche – that’s what you’re in for.

Truffle Burger at Chomp Eatery

Chomp’s Truffle Burger is made from grass-fed beef with arugula, tomato, pickle, provolone, caramelized onions and, of course, a potent truffle aioli. Get an order of truffle fries with it- double up on the truffle action.

Double – Double at In-N-Out Burger

If you haven’t had an In-N-Out Burger – you haven’t had a true L.A. experience. Head over there immediately and get an order of Double-Double – plain or animal-style, two-patty perfection became a classic a long time ago.
