There are many, many, many nightclubs in LA. Cover charge varies by venue and day. Here is a small list of the most well known. If you would like a more complete list, check out the LA Weekly.
- House of Blues, 8430 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 323-848-5100, www.hob.com; the dance floor is close enough to the stage that your favorite blues singer might even climb down for a dance. Excellent sight lines and sound systems for live bands have been strategically arranged, because this well know hang out is also enjoyed as a restaurant.
- The Joint, 8771 West Pico Blvd., West LA, 310-275-2619; an eclectic venue for local bands.
- Key Club, 9039 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 310-274-5800, www.keyclub.com; two-level showcase featuring a variety of acts. Three full bars feature a “tequila library.”
- Mayan Theatre, 1038 South Hill Street, 213-746-4674; normally an LA nightclub, its cool, dark building makes it irresistible as a concert venue.
- The Troubadour, 9081 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, 310-276-6168; considered the granddaddy since it’s been in operation for more than 40 years.
