| Developed in the sixteenth century, the Tudor style home is based on the former English Elizabethan and Jacobean styles, and is sometimes called the Medieval Revival.

The typical characteristics of these kinds of homes offer a more elegant and sophisticated look. The house is designed in a decorative half-timber structure. Between the timbers, the space is filled with brick covered in cement stucco (also know as Nogging).
There are long rows of leaded casement windows, fashioned with small window panes. Along with these smaller windows, there are tall, narrow windows that are commonly in multiple groups and multi-paned.
The roof is very steeply pitched, with both front gables and large side gables, and is usually of wood or slate shingles. The chimney is massive and toped with a large chimney pot. The entryway is tall and has a round, or slightly pointed Tudor arch. The timbers are often painted a dark color, and the rest of the house a lighter, more natural color. This kind of home looks good in a greener type of setting, and can often is found covered in ivy.
