| Dining rooms are an important aspect of a home, and can either be a comfortable gathering place or an elegant place for extravagant dinners. Here are some ideas when deciding how to decorate you dinning room.
1. Bright and lavish upholstery on dinning room chairs may look nice; however, they make it difficult to change table cloths for different occasions. A plain, less textured fabric will allow for more flexibility and will keep the fabric from competing with your wedding china or floor length curtains.
2. When selecting the type of dinning room table to buy, make sure to keep shape in mind. Long, rectangular tables are usually a favorite, however, round tables allow for close conversation, and many come with leaves that can extend the table in to an oval, to accommodate more guests.
3. Glass tables go well in many homes, however, do not adjust to different sizes. Therefore, if you are big on entertaining or have guests over a lot, this might not be right for you.
4. Foldable tables are always good to have around. If you do decide to get a glass dining table, or another non-extendable, a foldable table can come in handy
5. Stone, marble, glass, and tile are some nice contemporary choices, and often go well in a tropical claim. Marble can often make a room seem cold and harsh in the winter months.
6. Spruce up a room with chair slip covers and matching table cloths. Also, instead of packaging up good china ware until a holiday dinner, try displaying it in a china cabinet, or on plate stands on a shelf.
7. Chair backs are, a lot of the time, this first thing you see when walking into a dining room. Are they attractive? If not, try chair slips, or try draping a piece of sheer fabric across the back.
8. Table cloths can add a lot to a dining room and can help protect you table. Also, they can change the rooms look from casual to formal, or summer to fall. They can be floor length, or tailored to fit perfectly around the table.
9. Dining room chairs, weather elegant or casual, should all be the same height. If you have a set of mismatched chairs (perhaps antique), trying adding cushions or different thicknesses to accommodate, no one wants to get the short end of the stick or shorter chair of the bunch.
10. Mix chairs around. Add different, yet matching, chair covers, or a bench that can be switched out from time to time. A love seat at either end of the dining table is always a unique look, but can add elegance.
