Residents, however, regard these boundaries with a bit more seriousness and can get particular when it comes to what exactly constitutes a Beverly Hills address. One reason for this is that residents are entitled to the city’s civic amenities (police, fire dept., public education, etc.), and as a rather well-funded area, these “amenities” are considered to be top notch among those in Los Angeles County. The well stocked Beverly Hills public library even requires a library card (gold at that) separate from those used by the Los Angeles Public Library’s system.
With a reputation that has spread world wide, Beverly Hills is known as home of the ever rich and famous. Therefore, the area is attached to a rather large price tag, one that mostly fluctuates within the millions.
Downtown Beverly Hills begins south of Santa Monica Boulevard and continues south to Wilshire Boulevard. As a magnificent place to shop, this stretch includes the famous Rodeo Drive, which remains a must see. Along Wilshire Boulevard there are high-rise office buildings, large upscale department stores, and the stately Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Just south of the Wilshire area is where you can find the most affordable homes, condos and apartments to rent.
Not even the streets go unnoticed, always kept clean and with parking rules to make anyone's mother seem lenient. Beverly Hills, being rather exclusive, is also not accessible directly from any freeways, making surface streets surrogate freeways in and out of the city. The neighborhood is therefore kept somewhat restrictive, and the residents pleased.
