Angelenos hardly find themselves with any spare time on their hands. That’s right – workaholics, workaholics everywhere! That’s why we often don’t want to start watching TV shows with many seasons to catch up on. However, we do love quality TV. For those with a constant heavy workload, we definitely recommend today’s top-quality miniseries. That way you won’t feel oppressed by the amount of content – prefix ‘mini’ is self-explanatory – and the spare time you do have will be well spent. Check out these 5 miniseries:

Black Mirror

This British science fiction anothology series created by Charlie Brooker depicts dark and satirical themes about the consequences of new technologies in modern society. Brooker noted, “each episode has a different cast, a different setting, even a different reality. But they’re all about the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes’ time if we’re clumsy.” It currently has 3 seasons and a total of 13 episodes. Definitely a must-watch!

True Detective

This American anthology crime drama created by Nic Pizzolatto focuses on three detectives from three cooperating police departments as they investigate a series of crimes they believe are linked to the murder of a corrupt politician. With a total of 16 episodes and starring our beloved Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, you’re in for a great time!

11.22.63

This American science fiction thriller is based on the book 11/22/63 by Stephen King. This name guarantees a top-quality story. It follows a man who is convinced into attmepting to prevent the assasination of JFK. Consisting of 8 episodes, the series is executive-produced by J.J. Abrams and produced by James Franco, who is also the lead actor.

Taboo

This British television drama was created by Stephen Knight, Tom Hardy, and his father, Edward “Chips” Hardy. This eight-part series, set in 1814, starts with James Delaney (Tom Hardy) as he returns to England after twelve years in Africa with fourteen stolen diamonds, following the death of his father and the end of the war with the United States.

Sherlock

Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories, Sherlock is a British crime drama television series created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman – as Doctor John Watson. Great cast and brilliant stories with a total of 13 episodes.
